North Korea tested its new submarine-launched cruise missiles (SLCM) on Sunday. According to rumors, it would be an enhanced version of the weapon system, called "Pulhwasal-3-31", supplied to the Pyongyang navy, put to the test for the second time within a week. The goal was to test the weapon system upgrade.

This was reported today by North Korean state media such as the state news agency "Korean Central News Agency" (KCNA) and the official newspaper "Rodong Sinmun", according to which leader Kim Jong-Un supervised the test, stating: This "has important strategic significance in the implementation of the army's modernization plan, which aims to build a powerful naval force". 

According to the North Korean report, the missiles flew over the sea off the country's eastern coast for just over two hours, until they hit an unspecified target identified on the body of water. South Korea confirmed the test, denying the details provided by Pyongyang, calling it "an exaggeration".
