Il-76 plane crashes near Yablonovo, in Russia
The Russian Armed Forces aircraft had 74 people on board
An Ilyushin IL-76 transport plane operated by the Russian Armed Forces crashed today, on Wednesday, January 24, near Yablonovo, in the Belgorod region of Russia, according to the Ministry of National Defense reported it. There were a total of 74 people on board: the department said that 65 were soldiers of the Ukrainian armed forces, transported to the Belgorod region for the exchange, together with six crewmembers, plus three companions. The plane was completely destroyed.
Ukrainian military sources instead report that the airplane was carrying missiles for the S-300 air defense system.
Other details regarding the accident have not been released yet.
