The UK will almost certainly extend the current restrictions on the maximum volume of liquids that passengers can carry in their suitcases, ensuring they will not have problems while passing through airport security. The government had ordered airport management companies to equip themselves with new scanners by June 1, 2024, to allow the passage of containers of up to two liters, instead of today's maximum 100 milliliters. 

For several months, the managers of the largest British airports, such as London-Heathrow, London-Gatwick and Manchester, had communicated that they would not be able to install and activate all the new generation 3D scanners by the deadline set by the government. These would have allowed containers of liquids and computers to be kept in the bag without removing them, thus streamlining security procedures. 

These scanners are already used in many airports in the United States and in other countries. The United Kingdom started the trials in 2018, but to date the only British airports to have already fully implemented them are few, including Teesside and London City Airport. The English Department for Transport could therefore grant the managers of some terminals an exemption from the deadline to complete the installations.
