Air taxis: Italian ENAC defines draft regulation
Consultation with operators will close by February 5th
The Italian Civil Aviation Authority (Enac) is defining the draft regulation on air taxis. The document specifies the requirements for aircraft Vca (Vertical Take-off and Landing Capable Aircraft) as well as the related trajectories and infrastructures, such as vertiports, which must be respected on Italian territory. The consultation with operators will close by 5 February.
This is a Italian regulatory framework that constitutes an important step for sustainable urban mobility of the future. The document will define: the characteristics of the airspaces called "Vca corridors", the navigation rules for aircraft (mainly eVtol); the requirements for the construction, certification and management of vertiports.
Air connections made with a flying taxi are a type of mobility that offers a double advantage: the speed of movement between different urban areas to avoid road traffic, a greater capillarity of transport thanks to the installation of vertiports in densely populated areas.
