Egypt and Germany ask for peace; Tel Aviv announces targeted attacks

The meeting between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu began today. The face-to-face meeting is currently being held at the Kirya military base in Tel Aviv. After the private conversation, the two, together with the Israeli war cabinet, will address the thorniest issues of the conflict. Meanwhile, the leaders of the Palestinian Hamas militias have asked Muslim countries to support them by sending weapons.

"We must work for the unity of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and to restore the political horizons linked to the two-state solution. Egypt and Germany have the common ability to improve communication with different parties in order to reach a two-state solution states and restore peace and stability in the region", said Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry during a joint press conference with his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock in Cairo.

Washington's aim is to avoid an escalation of the crisis in the Middle East. In particular, tensions between Tel Aviv and Lebanese Hezbollah are increasing. According to estimates, 2.3 million Palestinians have been affected by the war, including displaced persons and civilians. For its part, Hamas prevents the Red Cross from visiting the over 100 Israeli hostages kidnapped on October 7th.
