The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has not proposed a firm date for the certification of the Boeing 737 MAX 7 aircraft. The aircraft manufacturer expected this to happen by the end of this year, but FAA Administrator Michael Whitaker had already made it known that this would only happen when "we have all the data we need and the aircraft is safe". 

This was announced by the British news agency "Reuters", which cites a senior agency official as its source. Whitaker had said that "the issues are being worked out and the analysis will continue", adding that he is continuously informed "on the progress, to understand the issues that are emerging", both on the certification of the MAX 7 and on other projects. Boeing also awaits certification of the larger 737 MAX 10.
