South Korea today successfully tested an innovative space rocket powered by solid-state fuel. This is the third successful test of this new technology, after the two previous ones carried out in March 2023 and that of December 2022. It was announced by the Seoul Ministry of Defense. A move that is part of the growing competition with North Korea in the race to conquer space. 

The launch of the carrier took place from a base located on the sea near Jeju Island. The new rocket is equipped with technology developed thanks to the Agency for Defense Development, the South Korean state agency for research and development of technologies used in the defense sector, which supported the project of a booster powered by solid fuel, as well as a satellite, both produced by the Hanwha Systems company. 

The company said the satellite will be used for civilian purposes, including environmental monitoring. The system, as soon as it was put into orbit, would have already successfully sent the first signals from space received by the control center on the ground.
