Having failed the agreement between the unions and the multinational shipping company FedEx, in recent days the company has elected a new president of the corporate representative body at the Air Line Pilots Association (Alpa): this is Commander Billy Wilson, to whom he has been given an interim mandate until March 2025. He will protect the interests of around 6,000 FedEx pilots.

"I am committed to bringing all our pilots together as we re-establish union negotiations. We have paid a high price for this, while the company has made historic profits. Quality of life, work rules and retirement are key issues for our members", declared Wilson, relaunching the need for a contractual adjustment. 

His appointment comes as a replacement for Chris Norman, who was instrumental in shaping the tentative agreement, which was supported by union members but rejected in July by the company. The agreement focused in particular on issues relating to remuneration (+46% in four years) and safety in the workplace.
