Rome-Fiumicino Airport: who is the new handler
Operator Airport Handling is a subsidiary of Dnata (Emirates Group)
The awarding of the airport handling service at the "Leonardo da Vinci" airport of Rome-Fiumicino is at the center of international interests. While the operator Swissport announces a complaint against the ranking of the tender (won by Aviapartner Italia and Aviation Services) due to its exclusion, the new operator Airport Handling appears in Rome for the first time.
The new entry is a company that has been operating for many years at the "Enrico Forlanini" airport of Milan-Linate. At the top of Airport Handling are the president John Stewart and the General Manager Alberto Morosi. The operator is controlled by Dnata, led by CEO Steve Allen, an Emirates Group company, which acquired 70% of the shares in 2018, becoming the majority shareholder.
Before then Airport Handling was a majority public company although managed, at an operational level, by the Dubai airline. With the victory of the Rome-Fiumicino tender, the Emirates Group, through Dnata and other subsidiaries, is establishing itself as a global player in the airport sector.
