A series of joint military exercises between France and Nigeria has begun in recent days and will continue until October 15th. For this purpose, Paris has sent naval assault ships and amphibious vehicles to the Gulf of Guinea, which will participate in the "Crocodile Lift" and "Grand African Nemo" training operations, which began on Monday 9 October. There were present 18 countries from Africa and a unit of the Brazilian navy, the "Opv Amazonas".

"It is gratifying to note that these exercises have further strengthened the effectiveness of the collaboration against oil theft, illegal crude oil supply, piracy, hostage-taking and poaching", explained the Chief of Naval Staff Nigerian, Vice-Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla.

The Nigerian Armed Forces has deployed two helicopters and five warships: "NNS Kada", "NNS Aba", "NNS Udu", "Kano" and "DB Lagos". The French navy contributes with the frigates "Mistral" and "Ventose", both already deployed in Nigerian waters as part of the "Corymbe" operation, to which a "Falcon 50" maritime surveillance aircraft and a patrol aircraft will soon be added maritime "Atlantique".
