Israel (3): civilian planes to bring soldiers back to Tel Aviv
Airlines such as El Al, Israir and Arkia have organized additional flights
In recent days, Israel mobilized around 300,000 reservists with the aim of regaining "full control" of the border with the Gaza Strip and "restoring the level of security". For this reason, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and national commercial airlines have sent transport aircraft to various European countries to take on board soldiers to be brought back to Israel, also available for a possible ground military operation against Hamas.
The Israel Airports Authority (IAA) announced that today various Israeli companies such as El Al, Israir and Arkia have organized additional flights to bring the reservists home. Already yesterday the Air Force, in coordination with the Foreign Ministry, had made two military transport aircraft available, a Lockheed C-130 Hercules and a C-130J Super Hercules to embark the first soldiers.
After the announced cancellation of all air connections to and from Tel Aviv's "David Ben-Gurion" international airport by around 40 airlines from all over the world, Israeli airlines have decided to temporarily increase their capacity operational between now and the next few days.
