Japan will invest in the technological development of aircraft powered by electricity generated from hydrogen. Regarding this, the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry, led by Yasutoshi Nishimura, has announced the allocation of funds amounting to 194 million euros. Tokyo's goal is to attempt to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from aviation. 

This was reported by the Japanese economic daily "Nikkei". Specifically, the investment plan states that just over half of this allocation will be used for the development of hydrogen fuel cell systems for aircraft, while the other portion of the funds will be allocated to applications that include engine control technology for fuel efficiency.

Tokyo aims to initiate research in 2024 to test the first prototypes by 2030. For this purpose, they are in discussions with aerospace companies, battery manufacturers, and automobile manufacturers. Other entities around the world are also working on hydrogen-powered aircraft. Meanwhile, in the United States and Europe, flight tests have already been conducted. Airbus has recently confirmed its aim to bring the world's first commercial hydrogen-powered aircraft to the market by 2035.
