ITA-Lufthansa: wedding expected within the year
Spohr (CEO): "Nowadays everyone in Italy is a supporter of this operation. They are enthusiastic about us"
The CEO of the German aviation group Lufthansa, Carsten Spohr, said he was confident that the European Commission's approval for the privatization of the national carrier ITA Airways could arrive before the end of 2023. It was reported by the "Dow Jones" agency, which relaunched the words that the manager uttered during an event held in the last few hours.
"Now everyone in Italy is a supporter of this operation and the whole of Italy is enthusiastic for us". The green light from Brussels will come in time "to be able to start working on the integration issue next year as planned. Our employees working on the topic are selected and remain ready. Lufthansa will initially take over 41% of ITA and will have the possibility of increasing the stake at a later time or completely taking over the former Alitalia", Spohr said.
