France dedicates an airport to Queen Elizabeth II. The international stopover of Touquet-Paris-Plage, located in the North of the country, will be named after the late sovereign of the United Kingdom. An honor bestowed by what is considered the "most British of French places". The city is in fact located in Upper France, from which the ships and trains also depart, inside the Eurotunnel and crossing the English Channel, to arrive in Great Britain.

The airport management company requested the name change from the British crown just days after the Queen's death in September. King Charles III recently approved the request. At the moment, the date on which the official assignment of the new name will be celebrated has not yet been announced.

The airport was planned in the 1970s and become one of the first destinations for overseas flights. In the 1990s, it was the third busiest airport in France, after Paris-Orly and Nice. Currently it no longer offers scheduled services for passenger transport, but is used by private aircraft.
