Greece will train Ukrainians on F-16 aircraft
Joint announcement by the presidents of the two countries at a summit in Athens
The Government of Greece has announced that it will participate in training operations of Ukrainian Air Force pilots for F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft, manufactured by the US company Lockheed Martin. It was communicated jointly by the Presidents of Ukraine and Greece at a summit held in Athens.
"We have achieved an important result for the coalition in the aeronautics. Greece will participate in the training of our pilots for the F-16 aircraft. I am grateful for this proposal" advanced by Athens, said the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, during the joint press conference with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
Meanwhile, the governments of Denmark and the Netherlands announced last Sunday that they will supply the first F-16 fighters to Ukraine, following the green light given by the Biden administration in recent months. A coalition of 11 Western block countries has said training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16 aircraft will take place in Denmark and Romania, with support from the European Union, the USA and the UK.
