Poland purchases Apache helicopters

US State Department give green light, now US Congress decision

In the past few hours, the US government approved the sale to Poland of military AH-64E Apache attack helicopters manufactured by US Boeing. The State Department notified its decision to the US Congress, which is responsible for approving the deal. The contract signed by Warsaw and Washington has an estimated value of 12 billion dollars. The agreement aims to strengthen the fleet of a country on the front line alongside Ukraine.

The AH-64 Apache helicopter is present today in the military fleets of 19 countries. The first flight of this version dates back to May 2004, while its entry into production in April 2010. This rotary-wing aircraft is equipped with a 30 mm caliber M230 Chain Gun automatic cannon and various combinations of anti-tank missiles and air-to-air rockets. Boeing is updating the Model E to version 6.5 which will include improved turbine engine and software.
