Australia receives first "Black Hawk" helicopters

Initial batch of an order for 40 military aircraft

The Australian Department of Defense has announced that it has received the first three American-made Sikorsky UH-60M "Black Hawk" military helicopters. This is the initial lot of an order for 40 aircraft that will be destined for the Australian Air Force. At the moment, a certain date has not been made official on when the other UH-60Ms will be delivered. 

"The first two arrived at Royal Australian Air Force Base Richmond on July 30, flown by United States Air Force Boeing C-17 aircraft. A third Black Hawk arrived on Friday, August 4, also by C-17 aircraft. 17", an Australian Air Force spokesman explained, adding that the delivery was made on schedule. 

The contract for the purchase of 40 "Black Hawk" helicopters was signed on January 18, 2023 by the governments of Australia and the United States. The order has an estimated value of 1.82 billion US dollars and includes equipment, logistic support and maintenance. It has not yet been disclosed when the aircraft will enter service.
