Accident between two helicopters in Poland

According to Warsaw, Belarusian aircraft violated the airspace

The Polish defense ministry confirmed today the plane crash between two Belarusian military helicopters that occurred yesterday morning around 8:00 on the border between the two countries. The collision had been photographed by local residents, but Warsaw had initially denied the accident. In the evening he then issued a press release confirming the event.

According to an initial reconstruction made by the defense ministry in Warsaw, the helicopters were flying at a very low altitude, making it difficult for Polish military systems to detect the aircraft, according to which the helicopter violated Polish airspace. Warsaw admitted that Belarus had informed in advance that pilot training exercises would take place in the border area.

"The border crossing occurred in the Białowieża area at a very low altitude, making detection by radar systems difficult", the Polish ministry said in a statement, adding that it had informed the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (Nato). Meanwhile, the Polish foreign ministry has summoned the Belarusian charge d'affaires to explain the incident, also confirmed by Minsk.
