Italy-Japan air exercise towards postponement

Possible postponement of the joint military air exercise between Italy and Japan due to a typhoon that hit the Japanese peninsula in the last few hours. The start is scheduled for the 4th and the conclusion on the 8th of August. This is the first training of its kind organized between the two countries to "improve tactical capabilities and expand cooperation in the defense field".
"By conducting joint exercises with the Italian Air Force (AMI), we intend not only to enhance the tactical capabilities of the Japan Self-Defense Forces and increase mutual understanding, but also to expand cooperation in the field of defense to implement realize an 'Indo-Pacific region ' free and open", according to a Japanese statement released in view of the start of the exercise.
For Japan there will be four F-15 Eagle fighters and a KC-767 refuelling aircraft. The Italian Armed Forces will instead deploy four Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II combat aircraft, three KC-767 tankers, a Gulfstream G-550 Caew (Conformal Airborne Early Warning Aircraft) intelligence aircraft and a Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules military transport aircraft.
