Philippines bets on Manila airport

Private consortium to modernize airport by 2024

Construction and engineering companies from the Philippines have combined their interests for a modernization plan of the "Ninoy Aquino" international airport in Manila. The goal is to carry out a restyling that makes the terminal more efficient, where in recent years the inconveniences caused by obsolescence and crowding have been the order of the day. The completion of the works is expected by 2024.

This is how the Manila International Airport Consortium (MIAC) was born, made up of six companies (Alliance Global, Aboitiz, Ayala, LT Group, Filinvest, JG Summit Holdings) and the US investment fund Global Infrastructure Partners, which have come together to present an investment plan worth 4.8 billion dollars, which aims to fix the airport before the government starts accepting offers.

The Philippine Department of Transportation plans to participate in the Manila Airport renovation through a public-private partnership. Subsequently, the private consortium would like to manage it and is waiting for the authorities to approve its offer.
