The Polish government goes ahead with the construction of the new Warsaw airport. The Solidarity Transport Hub project is an infrastructure destined to become the main air transit hub for Central and Eastern Europe. The value of the work is approximately 8 billion euros and its completion is expected in the summer of 2028. It is considered the largest infrastructure construction currently underway in Europe. 

The goal is to make this airport the main departure point for almost 180 million inhabitants who reside in central and eastern Europe. For this reason, the airport will be connected with the surrounding cities by high-speed rail and road networks. The new terminal will absorb most of the traffic of the other two Warsaw airports, "Chopin" and "Modlin", which will be downsized and their role rethought. 

The project is strenuously opposed by environmentalists, who point out that the expansion of the infrastructure will lead to a higher intensity of carbon emissions. Also criticized by the low-cost airline Ryanair which defined the project "incomprehensible: Warsaw already has two airports. It would be enough to use them well", said the managing director Michael O'Leary.
