Which are the most punctual airlines in Europe
Norwegian dominates, but the rest of the world does even better
The analysis company Cirium, specialized in providing information in the aviation sector, has conducted a study on the punctuality (departures from the gate within 15 minutes of the scheduled time) of the connections made by the main global companies. This is a monthly monitoring, relating to operations in May 2023, which represents an important litmus test for understanding the trend of the Summer 2023 season.
This is the ranking of the 10 most punctual airlines in the world: in first place is Norwegian (89.25% of flights on time); on the second step Polish LOT (88.68%); on the last step of the podium the national airline Iberia (88.63%). Followed by the northern European Finnair (85.49%) and Austrian (83.31%). In sixth place the Spanish low-cost Vueling (81.97%), then Norwegian Sweden (76.07%), the Dutch group KLM (75.9%), the French Transavia (73.42%) and finally Eurowings (73.16% of punctual flights).
Looking at the rest of the world, only the Latin American group Avianca does better than the European airlines (89.51%). Looking at the airports, the first European airport for punctuality is the Norwegian one of Oslo-Gardermoen (86.41%) which is placed in eighth place in the ranking dominated by the Americans, with Minneapolis-St. Paul (89.63% of flights on time).
