Ukrainian conflict: Russian helicopter records destroyed

Moscow reportedly lost five times more aircraft than during the Chechen war

Today's daily bulletin of the Ukrainian General Staff stated that Russia has lost 301 helicopters since February 24, 2022. Figures that are also the result of Kiev's propaganda. In any case, in almost 16 months of war in Ukraine, Moscow reportedly lost "five times as many helicopters" as during the conflict in Chechnya, which lasted over ten years. This is also thanks to the supply of portable anti-aircraft Javelin missile launchers from Washington to Kiev.

This is what emerges from the investigation by the Dutch information portal "Oryx", specialized in analysis in the defense and open source intelligence sectors. According to their monitoring, Russia lost 24 helicopters during the first Chechen war (December 1994 to August 1996), while 51 in the second phase of the conflict (August 1999 to April 2009).

Numbers that align with those of Kiev intelligence which speak of 60 Russian vehicles destroyed in Chechnya, as declared by the spokesman of the Ukrainian General Staff, Brigadier General Oleksiy Gromov. The fact remains that the Russian Air Force has one of the top two largest and most efficient aircraft fleets in the world. Had Moscow wanted to employ it massively, it would probably have leveled Ukraine to the ground within months.
