Airbus raises forecasts for aircraft deliveries
The global fleet will double to 46,560 airplanes in 2042
The European group Airbus, specialized in the aerospace and defense sectors, announced in these hours that the estimate on the volume of aircraft deliveries has risen over the next 20 years. The latest forecasts add up to 40,850 aircraft compared to 39,490 imagined last year. This announcement reflects the trend of replacing older airplanes, which will grow the global fleet.
The forecast comes at a time of particular transition for the aviation sector: while companies modernize their fleets, global air traffic is growing by +3.6% on average. Industry experts agree that growth in new aircraft orders will be strongest in Asia. Particularly in India, which is the fastest growing market in the world, and in China.
These are Airbus' forecasts for future deliveries: 920 cargo aircraft (from 890 previously), 39,930 passenger transport ones (80% single aisle like A-320neo). The estimates on the number of old planes to be replaced in the next two decades have also been sharply revised upwards: they will be 17,170 (previously they were 15,440). Additionally, Airbus said the global fleet will double to 46,560 units in 2042.
