FAA has new interim administrator
Polly Trottenberg replaces Billy Nolen, but there is no official candidate
The United States Department of Transportation announced yesterday that Polly Trottenberg, an official of the same department, will assume the position of interim head of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This is an appointment with immediate effect, which will therefore see Trottenberg immediately take the place of Billy Nolen, current interim head of the agency from April 2022 to today.
Denver International Airport CEO Phil Washington withdrew his candidacy in March after criticism from the Republican party. In April Nolen announced his resignation (he should join the eVtol Archer Aviation company), which would become executive after the appointment of a new director of FAA. Since then, the White House has not yet designated an official candidate for the administrator position.
