Gatwick Airport: amid chaos and strikes
British Airways, Tui and easyJet cancelled and delayed flights
Surge of flight cancellations and delays today, Tuesday 30 May, at London-Gatwick airport in the UK. The cause of them was the strong travel demand that paralyzed the English airport, with long queues in this busy holiday week-end. The major inconveniences are registered with the air carriers British Airways, Tui and easyJet. A chaos that will soon be fueled by the railway transport strike.
At least 15 flights have been canceled or delayed, especially at departures. The Gatwick airport manager has made available to users a chatbot service that provides real-time updates on flights via messages on the social networks Facebook and Messenger, with information on gate numbers and boarding times.
Meanwhile, passengers going to London-Gatwick airport will also have to deal with the 24-hour train strike, scheduled for Wednesday 31 May and Saturday 3 June. It is a mobilization called by the trade unions to ask for wage increases for train drivers.
