Virgin Orbit in talks with Stratolaunch
Initial offer presented for the acquisition of aeronautical activities
After declaring bankruptcy in April, the US company Virgin Orbit, specialized in the launch of satellites, recently announced that it had entered into an agreement with the US space company Stratolaunch Systems, founded by billionaire Paul Allen, for the acquisition of aviation activities, including the modified Boeing 747 "Cosmic Girl" transport aircraft. The value of the deal is approximately 17 million dollars.
The deal, technically called a "stalking horse", consists of an initial offer that other bidders interested in buying Virgin Orbit can improve on if they want to buy the company. The deadline for submitting proposals is 19 May. In 2017, the company had been spun off from the Virgin Galactic space tourism company.
