In the past few hours, the German aviation group Lufthansa has communicated the company's income statements for the first quarter of 2023. The data shows a positive performance: revenues are up to 7 billion euros (+40% compared to the same period of 2022), while the net loss is reduced to 467 million Euros compared to 584 in the same period of 2022 (-20%), with an adjusted Ebitda of 272 million Euros.

"The Lufthansa Group is back on track. After a good first quarter in which we were able to significantly improve our results, we now expect a travel boom in the summer and a new record in our traffic revenues for the full year", said the CEO of the German company, Carsten Spohr.

"On leisure-oriented short- and medium-haul routes -he added- demand is already exceeding 2019 levels. Meanwhile, as regards the data on the volume of passengers, the travellers transported in the first three months of 2023 were 22 million, against 13 million in the same period of 2022. This is an increase in transport capacity equal to +75%. For 2023, the Group expects this to reach 85-90% compared to 2019.
