The US Department of Defense approved the sale of six Sikorsky SH-60 Seahawk multi-purpose helicopters to Norway yesterday. This is an order worth an estimated one billion dollars, which includes other equipment. The Pentagon also announced that the Biden administration gave the green light to service Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules airlifters, at an estimated cost of 166 million dollars.

"This deal will support US foreign policy and national security objectives by enhancing the security of a NATO ally that is an important force for geopolitical stability and economic progress across Europe. Norway will use the upgraded capability as a deterrent to regional threats and to strengthen its national defense", the Pentagon said in a statement.

The order for the six helicopters includes: 15 General Electric T700-GE-401C engines, as well as 9 tactical radio devices for multifunctional information management systems Link 16 Mids-Jtrs (Multifunctional Information Distribution System - Joint Tactical Radio System), 18 systems GPS-PPS (Global Positioning System/Precise Positioning Service) navigation system with SAASM (Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module) technology and six ALFS (Airborne Low Frequency Sonars) sonars.
