Canada: gold stolen at airport
Cargo worth over 13.4 million euros disappeared from the storage area
At the "Pearson" international airport in Toronto, Canada, a trunk containing gold and other precious objects worth over 13.4 million euros was stolen. The local authorities communicated it in the past few hours, letting it be known that the container was taken from a storage area, after being unloaded from an airplane on Monday evening. No arrests have been made so far.
"As per normal procedure, the aircraft was unloaded and the cargo was transported from the aircraft to a cargo facility. The container was carrying a cargo that contained gold, but not limited to, other valuables as well. We are three days away from probable theft, so our detectives have their eyes peeled and are evaluating all possibilities", explained Peel Regional Police Inspector, Stephen Duivesteyn.
