The US air carrier United Airlines and the American air mobility start-up Archer Aviation, specialized in the production of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVtol, Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft, have announced that in 2025 they will activate the transport service with flying taxis between Chicago-O'Hare Airport and downtown. 

The partnership provides that passengers who have booked a ticket with the American airline can arrive at O'Hare airport using an Archer eVtol: it is a journey of nearly five kilometers that takes just ten minutes from Vertiport Chicago, a property located in the South Loop neighborhood, right in the center. By public transport or taxi, the journey would take, depending on traffic, up to 45 minutes.

The two companies together with an investor in the mobility sector had previously announced a similar service for the city of New York: specifically a connection by air taxi between the center of Manhattan and the international airport of Newark Liberty; in order for everything to work as expected, it must pass the scrutiny of the American Federal Aviation Administration (Faa).
