Ghana: new helicopters for the police
Ministry of Defense purchases vehicles and aircraft to modernize fleets
Three new Airbus Helicopters H-125M aircraft and two Aerospatiale Gazelle of the Ghana Police has entered service. They made their first public appearance on the 66th anniversary of the Republic's independence on 6 March 1957, breaking away from UK control.
In recent months, the government has significantly increased the fleets of vehicles and aircraft of the Ghana police. On February 21, 2023, president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo attended the delivery of 600 motorcycles, 100 Toyota Hilux all-terrain vehicles and six Marauder 4x4 armored vehicles. Part of these means will also be destined for the police's counter-terrorism unit.
The Government of Ghana invested heavily in expanding its defense capability in recent years. On February 1, 2023, the armed forces received 175 military vehicles to be used in internal security and peacekeeping operations: among these there were 70 Kamaz trucks and 20 BTR-70 armored vehicles of Russian production, as well as 20 vehicles of American-made Husky TSV infantry tactical support, and 65 Japanese Toyota vehicles.
