Hamburg Airport: 120 parking for electric cars

Agreement signed by airport management and local public transport company

At Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel international airport, 120 parking spaces have been inaugurated, with relative electric charging stations, reserved for zero-emission cars of the car-sharing service. It is one of the largest energy supply hubs present in an airport on the Old Continent.

The initiative stems from a partnership signed between the airport management and the local public transport company Hamburger Verkehrsverbund (Hvv). The collaboration stems from the desire to achieve the company's goals in terms of decarbonisation and a more sustainable future. To support the green transition in these sectors, it is necessary to invest in charging infrastructure, especially in airports, railway stations, bus stations and shopping centres.

At the international airport of Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel, Switch Points have therefore been created, that is parkings where drivers can leave their electric car on charge. The vehicle can be connected to AC (alternating current) up to 22 kW or DC (direct current) up to 75 kW columns. At the moment, only cars from these car-sharing services can access the car park: Sixt Share, Miles and Share Now.
