IndiGo looks to the United States
Indian company evaluates codeshare with Turkish Airlines for routes to North America
Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo is considering the expansion of its flights network to the United States by codeshare connectivity through Turkish Airlines. The announcement comes after the Indian airline began operating the Istanbul-New Delhi flight with Boeing 777 aircraft leased from the Ankara-based airline.
It emerges from indiscretions reported by the Indian newspaper "The Economic Times". IndiGo said its main goal is to grow cooperation with Turkish Airlines, which would give passengers the option to fly to North America: US and Canadian airports. In fact, the codeshare allows a company to have its passengers book their tickets on partner airlines.
