USA: 5 million hours for Apache helicopters

Milestone achieved by US Army fleet aircraft

The AH-64 Apache attack helicopters, manufactured by the US Boeing group for the US military, have achieved 5 million flight hours, of which 1.3 million hours were during combat missions. The aircraft first took off in 1984. Since then the US military has operated A, D and E models. The latter are those currently in service with the military.

"It is a great privilege and an honor to be a part of the Apache program. The five million flight hour milestone is a testament to the reliability and availability of this aircraft in some of the toughest operating conditions in the world. maintenance of these helicopters is our priority", said Colonel John Jay Maher, project manager for the US Army.

The AH-64 Apache helicopter is present today in the military fleets of 19 countries. It is equipped with a 30 mm caliber M230 Chain Gun automatic cannon and various combinations of anti-tank missiles and air-to-air rockets. Boeing is updating the Model E to version 6.5, which will include improved turbine engine and software.
