Hack attack on Nato websites

Communications with aircraft bound for Turkey would have been disturbed

A cyber attack, claimed by the pro-Russian group Killnet, today targeted some websites linked to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). According to some media reports, this would have made the web portal of the headquarters of the special operations in Belgium inactive for a few hours.

"NATO cyber experts are actively evaluating an attack that targeted NATO websites. NATO regularly handles cyber breaches and takes the security of technological systems very seriously", said a NATO official, confirming the report on hacker attack.

Furthermore, the violation would have interrupted contacts with some military planes that were transporting humanitarian aid to the victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. This is what the British newspaper "Daily Telegraph" reports. In particular, the cyber criminals allegedly hit a multinational organization that relies on NATO support to provide military and humanitarian air bridges.

According to what has been learned, communications in the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) network with a Boeing C-17 Globemaster III of the Strategic Airlift Capability (SAC), bound for the Incirlik air base, in the south of the Turkey, with a load of material to be sent to the rescuers.
