Plane crash, MH17 flight: Putin supplied the missile

Prosecutor's announcement marks end of investigations court in The Hague

The Joint Investigation Team of six countries investigating the crash of Malaysia Airlines MH17 flight, which crashed in Ukraine in 2014, recently communicated the results of some investigations, according to which there is a direct link between the Kremlin and the downed aircraft. This marks the end of the investigation at the court in The Hague.

"There are strong indications that Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided to supply the Buk Telar surface-to-air missile system to the separatists of the Donetsk People's Republic", said in a statement the team of investigators, led by Dutch prosecutor Digna van Boetzelaer.

In November 2022, the Dutch court had sentenced to life imprisonment the three defendants (two Russian citizens and a Ukrainian) found guilty of the shooting down of the B-777/200ER plane, which took off from Amsterdam and headed for Kuala Lumpur, in which they lost their lives 298 people. The facts date back to July 17, 2014: Russian separatist forces hit the aircraft that was crossing Ukrainian airspace with a rocket.
