Zelensky flies to London
First European trip since the start of the war
The Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky is not going to San Remo but flies to London today, where he will give a speech in Parliament, according to Downing Street, the office of the British prime minister. This is the Kiev politician's first trip to Europe since the beginning of the war, almost a year ago (it was February 24, 2022). A trip to settle political ties with London and to visit soldiers trained in London.
The president is "a testament to Ukraine's courage, determination and fight" against the Russian invasion, as well as the "unbreakable friendship between our two countries", said British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who will announce further support for aircraft pilot training.
I am "proud" of the announced expansion of the "vital" military training programs that the United Kingdom "has been guaranteeing since 2014" in Kiev and of the new British economic sanctions imposed against Moscow and the group of powers led by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
