ITA Airways: Lufthansa has the last word on salaries

Unions: from the company signals openness on wage increases and application of the contract

Seven trade unions of the air transport category met a delegation of the management of the national airline ITA Airways, represented at the table by the managing director Fabio Lazzerini, Yesterday afternoon, for the second time in eleven days. Workers' representatives are calling for wage increases and the application of the air transport contract. Ministry of Economy and Lufthansa will have the last word.

"The attempt to sign an agreement in the two meetings of January, 20 and 31, failed. After having started a cooling-off procedure, we are now calling into question the Government", explains the secretary of Filt-Cgil union, Fabrizio Cuscito. And the FIT-Cisl secretary union, Salvatore Pellecchia, adds: "The positions are not so distant. From ITA we have received signs of openness that give us hope".

The seven acronyms (Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl, Uiltrasporti, Ugl Ta, Anpac, Anpav and Anp) ask the Ministry of Labor to take charge of an attempt at mediation. ITA and the unions will meet again at the ministry in 10 days. If this attempt at mediation fails, then the organizations will call a strike. The feeling, however, is that a compromise is possible because none of the parties, neither the Government nor Lufthansa, seeks confrontation.
