Air France-KLM orders seven A-350 aircraft

Fleet renewal with planes that consume less fuel and lower Co2 emissions

The French-Dutch aviation Group Air France-KLM announced in the past few hours that it has ordered another seven A-350s, four of which in the cargo version. This is a decision that falls within the framework of the company's initiatives which aim to accelerate the renewal of the fleet with aircraft that consume less fuel and emit fewer gases harmful to the environment, cutting CO2 emissions by 30% by 2030.

In particular, this aircraft model is intended to operate long-haul routes. It is a twin-engine wide-body aircraft in production since 2014. The maiden flight of the first A-350/900 dates back to 14 June 2013. The entry into service is dated 15 January 2015 with the airline Qatar Airways. This model exists in two versions: A-350/900 (basic variant with 315 seats) and A-350/1000 (longer aircraft with 369 seats capacity).

Air France's order concerns three A-350/900 aircraft to be delivered from 2024. The order also includes four A-350/900Fs, i.e. a cargo version (capacity of around 90 tonnes) to be destined for the Dutch airline Martinair, specialized in air cargo, to be delivered from 2026. The value of the order exceeds two billion dollars at list prices. Air France-KLM already had 38 aircraft of this type on order (including 20 already delivered).
