Russia-Ukraine: the CIA in Kiev
Zelensky asks for reassurance after the Republican majority obtained in Parliament
The director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), William Burns, would have carried out a secret mission to Kiev to meet the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky. The reason for the meeting would be joint military planning of tactics and strategies for the coming weeks and months of the war. The meeting allegedly took place at the end of last week.
This is what the US newspaper "Washington Post" reports, citing sources familiar with the matter. According to the latter Zelensky and Ukrainian intelligence have asked for reassurance after the Republicans won a narrow majority in the US House of Representatives in the midterm elections. Kiev would like continued economic, humanitarian and military support from Washington and the West.
Meanwhile, today President Zelensky thanked the American people and President Joe Biden for the new commitment in security aid: "Thank you for providing another powerful defense support package worth 2.5 billion dollars. Aid important in our fight against the aggressor. Thank you to the American people for your continued support".
