Eurofighter plane crash in Sicily: black box data downloaded
Prosecutor of Trapani in England to monitor the operations at the aircraft manufacturer
The download of the data recorded by the Crash Recorder (the so-called black box also formed by the Voice Recorder) of the Eurofighter aircraft commanded by Fabio Antonio Altruda, a 33-year-old pilot of the 37th Wing of the Italian Air Force (AMI), is starting today in England , which crashed on December 13, 2022 as it was about to land at the Trapani-Birgi military base. The hypothesis of the victim's family members is that the accident was caused by a breakdown.
According to reports from the Italian press agency "Dire", the Trapani Public Prosecutor's Office will participate in the data download operations at the manufacturing company which is part of the consortium that produces the Eurofighter aircraft. At the disposal of the magistrates, who had the need to keep the black box according to certain precautions suitable for maintaining the integrity of the instruments, the Crash Recorder had been kept up to now at the 37th Wing.
The investigation by the Trapani prosecutor's office, to which the Trapani lawyer Fabio Sammartano presented a complaint on behalf of family members who ask that the analysis not be carried out by the military, runs parallel to that conducted by the Armed Air Force.
