The implementation of the new European regulations on the use of drones contained in the "U-Space" package, which defines the continental strategy 2.0 on the management of remotely controlled unmanned aircraft, will start in January. Brussels' goal is to develop a common market that takes into account the interests of the defense industry and civil uses: from surveillance, through air taxis, to the delivery of parcels.

"With the right regulatory framework in place, the drone services market in Europe could reach a value of 14.5 billion dollars and create 145,000 jobs by 2030. With the arrival of a new generation of propelled aircraft capable of operating in urban and regional environments we need to ensure safe operations in our skies and conditions that meet commercial, privacy and security needs", explained EU Transport Commissioner Adina Valean.

Drones will be an integral part of everyday life "initially with a pilot on board, but with the ultimate goal of fully automating operations" with a view to unleashing market potential, so as to "prepare a regulatory and commercial environment adequate for tomorrow's airspace and drone market", they explain from Brussels.
