ITA Airways: possible interest by the FS Group
The Government is probing concern of other Italian companies
An Italian investor would be interested in taking part to the privatization procedure of the national airline ITA Airways. It would be the Ferrovie dello Stato Group (FS). The Meloni Government is reportedly studying the possibility of transferring the majority stake in the airline to a consortium formed by the German aviation group Lufthansa and the Italian railway company.
This is what emerges from rumors published by the Italian newspaper "Il Corriere della Sera", which cites government sources. According to the latter, the Minister of Economy and Finance (Mef), the sole shareholder of ITA Airways, could sell 51% of the company to Lufthansa, while another 29% of the capital would go to Ferrovie dello Stato, finally the remaining 20% would remain in the hands of the Government.
It is a scheme, the Italy-Germany one (a subject to work alongside Lufthansa), which the Executive would be developing also by probing the interest of other possible national players: from the probable return of the Italian-Swiss shipowner Mediterranean Shipping Company (Msc), to the Atlantia Group which with the operator Aeroporti di Roma (AdR) manages the Rome airports of Fiumicino and Ciampino.
