Russia-Ukraine: six months of war

US intelligence speaks of 15,000 Russian soldiers killed, worse than Afghanistan

The war between Russia and Ukraine has reached its sixth month of fighting. It was dawn on February 24, 2022, when Vladimir Putin ordered the military attack on Kiev: military means and soldiers had penetrated Ukraine from the north through Belarus, and from the Russian border to the southeast via Crimea. The sixth month coincides today with Kiev's Independence Day from the Soviet Union after the collapse of the Berlin Wall in 1989. Celebrations that will not be held due to the risk of attacks from Moscow.

The daily bulletin published today by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces speaks of 40,500 Russian soldiers killed since February 24 to date. According to US intelligence, on the other hand, Russians killed would be about 15,000 and three times as many wounded. Impossible, however, to verify in detail the figures given, inflated by the respective propaganda. The TV station "BBC" tried, which identified over 5700 Russian military personnel who lost their lives in six months. In each case for Moscow the losses are even worse than the 20-year war in Afghanistan. On the other side of the fence, the head of the Ukrainian armed forces, General Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, said that nearly 9,000 Ukrainian military personnel have been killed in the war.

According to the latest estimates from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (Ohchr) at least 5587 civilians have been killed and 7890 wounded since February 24, although the actual number of casualties could be much higher. "Save the children" pointed out that at least 356 victims are minors, 16 percent of whom are under the age of five, while there are at least 586 injured children, 13 percent of whom are under the age of five. Most hit by explosive weapons such as artillery, missiles and air strikes".

According to Kiev military forces, Russian losses would amount to 1749 tanks, 3987 armored vehicles, 900 artillery systems, 258 rocket launchers, 117 anti-aircraft defense systems, 222 aircraft, 190 helicopters, 2870 motor vehicles, 15 naval units and 731 drones.

On the other side of the barricade, the Russian Interior Ministry announced that in six months 268 Ukrainian aircraft and 148 helicopters, 1796 drones, 369 anti-aircraft missile systems, 4377 tanks and armored vehicles, 818 rocket launchers, 3335 artillery pieces and mortars were neutralized.
