Lufthansa: strike on July 27 and 28

Unions demand wage increases to cope with extra work ef inflation

The German service industry union (Greens) has called a strike by ground staff of air carrier Lufthansa. Workers will cross their arms from 3:45 am Wednesday until 6 am the following day to demand improved pay and working conditions. The announcement comes after several weeks of long wait times and passenger handling problems at airports.

Staff representatives of the German airline are demanding, "significant wage increases" to cope with continued extra work demands and inflation. Unionists have warned passengers that there will be massive flight cancellations and delays, which will further aggravate the already tense staff situation at German airports.
