ITA Airways: towards reopening data room

A chance to give additional information to ropes interested in purchase

The Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance may soon ask flag carrier ITA Airways to reopen its data room. This would be aimed at providing all the additional information recently requested by the two cordates interested in its purchase.

It was revealed by the Italian newspaper "La Repubblica", according to which both stakeholders said they were "not satisfied" with the information they received. It is recalled that the data room, which contains confidential documents of a company for sale, was open 20 days (from May 3 to 23). Perhaps too short a time, which does not allow for an assessment of the timeliness of the airline's performance.

For these reasons, both ropes warn that they intend to pay ITA less than they imagined. Meanwhile, both the German-Italian alliance consisting of shipowner Msc and airline Lufthansa, and the alliance consisting of the US fund Certares with the airlines Air France and Delta Air Lines, have reportedly submitted "vague and lackluster" purchase plans: from intercontinental routes to maintenance services.
