Tunisia starts military exercises

"African Lion 2022" is organized by United States Africa Command

The joint military exercise "African Lion 2022" kicks off in Tunisia. These are operations organized by United States Africa Command, which in this case take place under the command of Tunisian Army Chief of Staff Mohamed Ghoul and US National Guard Brigadier General Patrick Thibodeau

The Tunis Defense Ministry explained that in addition to Tunisia, Morocco, Senegal, Ghana and 9 other countries are participating, totaling more than 7,500 troops, 85 aircraft and two ships. In attendance are military personnel from Brazil, Chad, France, Italy, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom who will join U.S. and host nation troops.

The exercises, which will end June 30, also aim to improve field evacuation capabilities, armed forces readiness in operational planning, countering homemade explosive devices, and preventing chemical and biological hazards.
