Ukraine war: new weapons from Washington

President Biden quantifies aid at 1.2 billion dollars and announces it on social media

US President Joe Biden in recent hours announced the sending of more armaments to Ukraine to defend itself against Russia's military attack. This is a decision related to Kiev's continued demands on the Atlantic Alliance. The package will include anti-ship missile systems, artillery rockets and howitzer shells.

"This morning I spoke with President Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss the ongoing brutal war with Russia. I reiterated our commitment to support Ukraine and shared that the United States is providing over 1.2 billion dollars in humanitarian assistance and security", the US president wrote on social media.

According to several international media outlets citing the US Department of Defense, the arms package includes 18 howitzers with 36,000 rounds of ammunition, two Harpoon coastal missile defense systems, artillery rockets, secure radios, thousands of night vision devices and financial support for training. To date, the United States has provided more than 5.5 billion dollars in military support since the Russian-Ukrainian war began.
