Ukrainian conflict: Mi-24 military helicopters to Kiev

Czech Republic and Slovakia at the forefront of NATO arms supply

The government of the Czech Republic has supplied Ukraine with a series of Soviet-made Mil Mi-24 attack helicopters. According to US "Wall Street Journal", which cites sources close to the US Defense Department, together with Slovakia, Sofia is currently providing Kiev with maintenance and repair services for armored vehicles, which will return to the fight immediately after the mechanics and technicians intervene.

US Defense Secretary, Lloyd Austin, thanked the Czech government for its contribution, the newspaper said. This is a testament to the activism of some Eastern European countries, which, under North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) provisions, are giving crucial help to Kiev.

In April, the Czech Republic became the first country among the allies to transfer tanks to Ukraine. Now it is the first to announce the supply of military helicopters to the Ukrainian armed forces. Also transiting from Prague were 17,000 anti-tank armaments sent by NATO to Kiev during the first two weeks of the war. From Slovakia, on the other hand, Russian-made S-300 anti-aircraft defense systems are coming to Ukraine.
